Bond set at $1 million
A Champaign County juvenile judge ruled Wednesday that there is probable cause to try the 17-year-old accused shooter in the West Liberty-Salem Schools shooting.
Judge Lori Reisinger also set bond at $1 million for Ely Serna, who is accused of two counts of attempted murder, three counts of felonious assault, six counts of improperly discharging a firearm in a school and single counts of inducing panic and illegal conveyance of a firearm into a school in connection with the Jan. 20 shooting at the high school that left fellow student Logan Cole with serious wounds and another student with minor injuries.
He was previously ruled competent to stand trial after closed testimony about his psychological condition.
Judge Reisinger did not rule immediately on whether the case should be bound over to an adult court under mandatory bindover laws recently affirmed in an Ohio Supreme Court ruling.
