Chiefs, Lakers split in CBC meeting
Bellefontaine’s eighth-grade boys basketball team beat Indian Lake 49-34 on Monday in a Central Buckeye Conference match, while the Lakers topped the Chiefs in the seventh-grade game 34-16.
Garrett Gross sparked the Chieftain eighth-grade team with 13 points and Garrett Jenkins was close behind with 12 points.
Nate Reichert led the Lakers’ eighth-grade team with 15 points.
Alex Barnes led the Indian Lake seventh-graders with 11 points, Darrick Curtis had eight points and Chase Coburn added seven points.
WL-Salem sweeps Greeneview
West Liberty-Salem’s middle school boys basketball teams swept Greeneview in a pair of Ohio Heritage Conference games Monday.
The Tigers won the eighth-grade game 48-34, while the seventh-grade Tigers rolled to a 47-25 victory.
Ethan Cole anchored the eighth-grade Tigers with 22 points, Matthew Loffing had 12 points and Eli McGill added seven points.
The seventh-grade Tigers saw Nick Burden tally 11 points. Tanner Levan had nine points and Drew Hardwick added eight points.
Raiders get win over Hillclmbers
Benjamin Logan’s seventh-grade boys basketball team dropped Urbana 49-26 on Monday in Central Buckeye Conference action.
Nolan Roose led the Raiders with 12 points and Kainin Stoner had 10 points, while Ethan Ricketts, Trey Allen and Marshall Jackson all had six points.
On Monday, Ben Logan’s eighth-grade squad beat Riverside. Kaiden Whitrock had 10 points and Joel Abbott had 10 rebounds.
Triad seventh-graders beat SCC
Triad’ seventh-grade boys basketball team defeated Springfield Catholic Central 35-22 on Monday, but saw the Irish win the eighth-grade game 27-25.
J.C. Alexander led the Triad seventh-grade squad with seven points, Wyatt Cave had six points and Jared Spors had five points.
For the eighth-grade Cardinals, Jacob Simonelli had nine points and Jordan Simonelli had six points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Chiefs, Lakers each get win
Indian Lake’s eighth-grade girls basketball team zapped Bellefontaine 29-14 on Monday, while the Chieftains won the seventh-grade game 28-12.
Lindsey Heminger powered the BMS seventh-graders with 14 points and five rebounds, while Siera Mathews and Kailynn Kenner each chipped in four points.
For the BMS eighth-graders, Taizha Collier had six points and Meagan Neal had four points.
Tigers split with Rams
West Liberty-Salem’s seventh-grade girls basketball team defeated Greeneview 18-8 on Monday to improve its record to 11-2 on the season. The Rams won the eighth-grade game 20-14.
Sophie Cole led the Tigers’ seventh-graders with six points and Gracie Estes had five points.
For the seventh-grade Tigers, Riley Brown tallied four points and Julia Ames and Savannah Weaver each had three points.
Ben Logan eighth-graders get two wins
Benjamin Logan’s eighth-grade girls basketball picked up two wins recently after defeating Riverside 44-24 on Saturday and then beating Urbana 41-13 on Monday. The wins improve the team to 8-3 on the season.
Savannah Pavoni had 22 points to spark the Raiders against Riverside and she scored 28 points against Urbana.
Ben Logan’s seventh-grade squad fell to Riverside 28-11 on Saturday and then lost again to Urbana on Monday 26-17.
Corinne Herring and Emily Roth each had six points for the Raiders against the Hillclimbers.
Triad seventh-graders top SCC
Triad’s seventh-grade girls basketball team held off Springfield Catholic Central 29-21 on Monday.
Frani LeVan led the Cardinals with 12 points and Cati LeVan had 11 points.
Catholic Central won the eighth-grade game 45-19. Sidney Louck led the Cardinals with nine points and Kendell Hughes had six points.
