WL-Salem splits with SCC
West Liberty-Salem’s seventh-grade girls basketball team defeated Springfield Catholic Central 18-8 in a recent Ohio Heritage Conference game.
Sophie Cole and Selena Weaver led the Tigers with eight points each.
The Irish edged the Tigers in the eighth-grade game 18-17.
Triad rolls to wins
Triad’s junior high girls basketball teams coasted to wins over South Vienna on Monday.
The seventh-grade Cardinals won 65-3. Frani LeVan had 22 points to lead Triad. Cati LeVan had 19 points and Baylie Plank added 16 points.
In the eighth-grade contest, Triad won 34-8. Kendell Hughes led the Cardinals with 17 points and Sidney Louck had eight points.
Bellefontaine loses to Redskins
Both of the Bellefontaine middle school girls basketball teams were dealt losses by Wapakoneta on Monday.
The seventh-grade Chiefs fell 37-22. Kailynn Kenner paced the Chiefs with eight points.
In the eighth-grade game, Wapak won 47-16. Hannah Rader scored seven points and Taizha Collier had five points for the Chiefs.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Bellefontaine eighth-graders bounce Wapak
Bellefontaine’s eighth-grade boys basketball team beat Wapakoneta 43-31 on Monday.
The Chiefs (5-3) were led by 13 points from Holden Nease and 12 points from Garrett Jenkins.
In the seventh-grade game, Wapakoneta won 47-11.
Tigers beat SCC
West Liberty-Salem’s eighth-grade boys basketball team dropped Springfield Catholic Central 57-23 on Monday in Ohio Heritage Conference action.
Ethan Cole led the Tigers with 12 points, Trevor Woodruff had 10 points and Matthew Loffing added nine points.
The Tigers’ eighth-graders lost to Anna on Saturday 63-27. Ethan Larson led the team with 14 points and Woodruff had six points.
WL-Salem’s seventh-grade team ran past SCC in a 61-18 victory. Nick Burden led with 13 points, while Tanner LeVan and Lance Baldwin each had 11 points.
Trojans trip up Cardinals
South Vienna defeated Triad in a pair of Ohio Heritage Conference wins. The Trojans won the eighth-grade game 39-37 and took the seventh-grade game 51-18.
Jordan Simonelli led the Triad eighth-graders with 12 points and Andrew O’Neil had 11 points.
For the seventh-grade Cardinals, Drew Campbell had 10 points.
