John Robert “Bob” Henry, 81, of East Liberty, entered eternity with his Heavenly Father, by the grace of Jesus Christ, Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, in Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
He was born in Bellefontaine on April 20, 1936, the son of the late Byron B. and Mildred Holycross Spain Henry. He is also preceded in death by two sisters, Miriam and Shirley; and a daughter- in-law, Kimberly Henry.
On Aug. 7, 1955, he married the former Nila M. Wirick in Zanesfield and she survives, along with their sons, Douglas (Dana) Henry and Michael (Vicki) Henry, both of Middleburg, Dean (Pam) Henry of Zanesfield and Mark (Joan) Henry of West Liberty; grandchildren, Kevin (Mary) Henry, Kiel (Megan) Henry, Alex Henry, Candice (Rob) Snyder, Kristina (Bryan) Ford, Tommy Wilson, Brice (Jasmine) Henry, Travis (Brandi) Henry, Katie (Brian) Johnson, Jerrod (Emily) Henry, Lindsey (Parker) Robison, Levi (Nataya) Poling and Lauren (Brian) Tegtmeyer; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was a 1954 graduate of Perry Zane High School and was a longtime member of the Middleburg United Methodist Church. He belonged to the Model T Club and had served on the Benjamin Logan School Board for a number of years.
He was a lifelong farmer, working for more than 55 years. His life work was to preserve the land and provide for future generations. He was a loving, caring man who thought first of his family and neighbors. He was a servant to many.
Pastor Rick Riggs officiates a celebration of life service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Middleburg United Methodist Church, 11824 State Route 287, Middleburg, where visitation begins at 11 a.m., following interment of his cremated remains at 10 a.m. in Middleburg Cemetery.
