John Alfred Simon, 72, peacefully left this earth Monday, March 25, 2024.
John leaves behind his devoted wife Susan (Underwood) Simon, children Amy (Mike) Yeager, Robert (Catherine) Simon, and Chrissy (Rob) Fails; brothers Tom (Andrea) Simon and Jim (Cheri) Simon and seven grandchildren, which he adored, Caroline, Michael, Emily, Simon, Anna, Jane and Marshall.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Walter “Bud” and Dorothy “Joan” Simon of Eaton, Ohio, and his sister, Janet K. Simon of El Dorado.
It would be impossible to put into words just how much John will be missed. For his family and those who loved him, he will be with us every day. His family and friends will have countless happy memories, funny stories and anytime we eat an Oreo, we will smile! He made us all better people.
John, a faithful Catholic, was everything a good person should be. He made the decision 10 years ago, as he fought cancer, to donate his body to science. John’s spirit has gone to Heaven and his body was gifted to Wright State University as his last kind act.
John did not want a funeral. If you knew John, it wasn’t his style. His family would suggest a few ways to honor John. First, hug those you love a little tighter. Second, do a “good turn” (John was a Boy Scout). Third, pass on love/kindness to those you love and those you don’t. Finally, share a good meal and have a few laughs.
A special thanks to Hospice of the Western Reserve. Your kindness and compassion helped John and his family navigate as John prepared for his next adventure.
