James O. Stevenson, 93, of Lewistown, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Logan Acres Senior Community.
He was born in Middleburg on March 27, 1922, to the late Harry G. and Lucy L. Ott Stevenson.
On Nov. 20, 1947, he married the former Mary Jane Cooper and she preceded him in death May 5, 2006. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kreglow; and a brother, Clarence Stevenson.
Survivors include his children, Patricia (Randy) Gobin of Ostrander and James F. “Fred” (Gwen) Stevenson of Sidney; four grandchildren, Lindsey Marie Gobin, Kandice Elaine (Chad) Eagy, Nathan Scott Stevenson and Aaron Matthew Stevenson; and two great-grandsons, Landon and Graham Eagy.
A U.S. Army World War II veteran, he was a farmer and member of the Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church and Bellefontaine Lodge 209 F&AM. He served as Washington Township clerk for 25 years and was a longtime member of the Harrison Grange and Logannaires Barbershop Chorus.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 24, and one hour prior to a funeral at 11 a.m. Friday, March 25, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, with the Rev. Debra S. Ketcham officiating. Burial follows in Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville.
