James Herbert “Skinner” Moore, 81, of East Liberty passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021, at the OSU Medical Center in Columbus.
James was born April 13, 1940, in East Liberty to the late Wilbur Bigger “Bill” and Winifred Elizabeth “Betty” (Evans) Moore. On June 6, 1958 in East Liberty he married the love of his life Roberta Jean “Berty” Rogers, who preceded him in death on January 27, 2014; they were married for 56 years.
Skinner was a 1958 graduate of Perry Zane High School and later worked at Super Foods for 42 years. He loved driving his 1952 Ford Truck around. Skinner was an avid hunter who also enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada, playing cards, watching boxing, The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Bengals, Survivor and Oak Island on TV. Most of all he loved watching his grandchildren and their sporting events no matter where they were.
He is survived by his best friend and companion pet dog Custer; children, Shelley (Tracey) Baxley, Jayme (Harry) Bray, Rod Moore, Dean (Penny) Moore; grandchildren, Chelsey (Josh) Baily, James (Christina) Fulton, Jayla (William) Sims, Robert “Bo” (Olivia) Hamilton, Andrew (Sara) Moore, Shelby (Chris) Moore, Casey Baxley, Kelby Baxley, Adam Bray, Kerri Bray; great grandchildren, Mason, Ava, Bobby, William, Aunesti, Delilah, Drew, James, Anna, Paris, Hunter, Liam, Jenson, Raelyn, Roche’, Shadow, Natalie, Jared (Kelsey) Trabert; great great grandchild, Addilyn; sister, Nancy Barr; sister-in-law, Margeret Rogers of South Carolina; brothers-in-law, Herb Fischer of Marysville, and Robert “Bob” Huffman of Arizona; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Roberta Jean Moore; grandson, Jacob Bray; great grandson, Christopher Moore; his parents; sister, Connie Huffman; brother-in-law’s, George Barr and Glen Rogers; sister-in-law, Donnabelle Fischer.
A Funeral Service will be Thursday, December 9, at 1 p.m. at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in East Liberty Cemetery following the service.
