James “Jim” H. Davie Jr., 66, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, at his residence.
He was born in Logan County on Oct. 2, 1952, a son of the late James H. “Dutch” Davie Sr. and of Maxine Herd Wirick, who survives in Michigan.
On Dec. 23, 1993, he married the former Kathy Salyer and she survives, along with five children; Kyle (Jodie) Davie of Wapakoneta, Summer (Dan)
Johnson, Jessica (Kyle) Gerwels and Jayme (Cory) Chamberlain, all of Bellefontaine and Eric (Brittany) Davie of West Jefferson; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Karen Long of Kenton and Vivian Petoskey of Michigan; a brother, Benjamin (Robin) Wirick of Michigan; his two dogs, Tootsie and Cocoa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A brother, Bruce Davie; and his stepmother, Shirley Kilgore Davie preceded him in death.
Jim served his country in the National Guard for seven years before working his career at Glacier Daido in Bellefontaine for 35 years. He loved spending his time scrapping metal and going to tractor and truck pulls. He enjoyed volunteering at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church and having hog roasts and cooking for his friends and family.
The family would like to say thank you to his two good coffee drinking buddies, Junior Tevis of West Mansfield and Bill Rowe of Rushsylvania.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date through arrangements by Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
