Jack Ellis Hardman, 82, passed away December 19, 2021 at Mary Rutan Hospital following an illness.
Jack was married to Rita Ann (Burnside) Hardman for 55 years and resided until recently near Middleburg Oh.
Rita preceded Jack in death on September 26, 2019. In the last few months before his death Jack resided at Campbell Place assisted living in Bellefontaine Oh.
Born August 11, 1939 to the late Beatrice Elizabeth (Porter) Hardman and Ralph E. Hardman also of Middleburg, he was one of seven children. He was blessed with a loving family and is survived by his brothers; Ronald, Paul (Lois), William (Joyce), David (Ruth), Donald (Jill) Hardman and sister Sally (Mark) Stierhoff. Jack and Rita raised four children together; Kimberly (John) Carpenter, Lisa (Sean) Blanford, Jack Douglas (Stephanie) Hardman, Paul (Jill) Hardman.
They loved and cherished their grandchildren; Amanda (Ryan) Kerns, Ericka (Tim) Tulloss, Rita Lauren (Matt) Ricker, Justine Hardman, Austin Carpenter, Jonah (Michaela) Hardman, Emma Hardman, Chandler Hardman, and Stephanie Chayce Hardman, and their great grandchildren; Illa, Cecilia, Silas, Sawyer, Andrew, Kendal, Thea, Reilly, Eli, and Layla. Jack never smiled bigger than when he was holding the newest grandbaby.
Jack was a United States Marine before marrying Rita in 1964 and proudly wore his Marine ball caps wherever he went. He worked for several years at Navistar in Springfield and then later as security for Honda, before retiring for good to care for his wife Rita.
He enjoyed family get together and outings with his siblings, holiday meals and time spent with family, and playing euchre with his friends and neighbors at Campbell Place.
He was a hard worker, and cared deeply for his family.
He has done and would have done anything for them. He was a great story teller and loved a good joke, and even though he may have repeated the same ones over and over through the years, you couldn’t help but laugh as hard as if it was the first time hearing it. He was funny, outspoken, kind hearted, generous and strong, all at the same time.
“Jack, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, or Brother, you are loved and terribly missed”
