Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department are continuing to investigate a Friday crash that seriously injured Cynthia Flores, 20, of Bellefontaine.
Flores was struck and run over by a sport utility vehicle around 5:25 p.m. as she tried to cross Hayes Street on the north intersection with the intersection with Columbus Avenue.
Witnesses report she waved several vehicles by before proceeding across. Carroll J. Hoge, 80, of Bellefontaine, also proceed northbound through the heavily traveled intersection.
Hoge’s SUV hit Flores about 24 feet north of the intersection. A crash investigator found evidence Flores appeared to hit the hood and was pulled to the roadway by the left front tire. She sustained significant head trauma, according to crash reports.
A Bellefontaine squad transported Flores to Mary Rutan Hospital and she was later transferred by helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. She was in critical condition Monday.
