With the start of the school year rapidly approaching, the Indian Lake School District is in a tight spot trying to identify who will lead the district.
After handling a brief bit of public business at Monday’s monthly board meeting, the board went into an executive session to meet with possible candidates for the interim superintendent role.
Superintendent Patrick O’Donnell is under indictment for sex charges and the board has previously voted to terminate his contract, although that decision is being appealed in a hearing that is currently set for 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4.
High School Co-principal Rob Underwood, who has already completed an educational administration program and is certified as a superintendent, has been leading the district for the past month. but the board wants to bring in an additional administrator who is qualified to fill in on a temporary basis so Underwood can continue to fulfill his principal duties, school spokeswoman Jamie Ross said.
Four candidates were interviewed, but no action was taken following the nearly three-hour executive session.
