Fourth-graders at Benjamin Logan Elementary School participated in a “petting zoo” of the musical variety Friday to help them see and hear the variety of instruments that they could play in the upcoming years as members of the middle school or high school band.
The younger pupils took part in Benjamin Logan’s sixth annual Instrument Petting Zoo, presented by high school band members.
Not only did they get hands-on experience seeing and hearing all the beginning band instruments, as demonstrated by the high school students, but they also had the chance to learn about what it means to be a part of the Benjamin Logan Band Program from their older peers.
The experience was just the beginning of a young student’s adventure in instrumental music,
Thursday, April 7, parents and students are invited to the Middle School band room at 7 p.m. to learn about expectations for next year, ask questions, and have their child fitted for an instrument if they were absent from school.
Also at the meeting, youths and their parents will have the chance to meet with representatives from Kincaid’s Music to secure an instrument for next school year.
