Indian Lake Board of Education members officially approved the Indian Lake Schools Reopening Plan and gave administrators the ability to make needed changes to the plan based on directives from the state during their Monday evening meeting.
The meeting was broadcast on the district’s Facebook Live account as well.
Superintendent Rob Underwood said the district will begin in-person classes on the original start date of Wednesday, Aug.19.
“We do expect our students to be back in the traditional classroom setting. We’re doing all we can to ensure their safety, as well as the health and safety of our staff,” he said.
Underwood adds there is a remote learning option for Indian Lake students who want enroll in online learning for the first semester.
In other action, the board:
• approved the following salary advancements for staff members: master’s plus 45 — Melanie Asman; master’s plus 25 — Lindsay Imm, Lisa Borgerding ; master’s — Zachary Overturf; bachelor’s plus 165 — Kristen Glink
• accepted the retirement resignation of Robin Shick, elementary educational assistant, effective July 31,
• accepted the resignation of Stevie Smith, seventh-grade intervention specialist;
• approved the transfer of Amanda Strayer from the elementary to seventh-grade intervention specialist;
• accepted the donation of $164.27 from Indian Lake Alumni to the High School Art Club;
• approved the 2020-2021 Program Service Agreement between the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center and Indian Lake Local Schools; and
• approved athletic pass prices for 2020-21, with no change from last school year.
The Indian Lake Board of Education also changed the time for the August meeting. The board will meet at the regular time of 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, instead of 5 p.m. because the district’s open house night is now canceled.
