Light truck sales continue to lead American Honda Motor Co. Inc.’s sales as both the Honda and Acura brands set new October records.
Sales of sport utility vehicles, vans and trucks were up 6.5 percent for Honda while Acura SUV gained 15 percent led by a 75 percent jump in sales for the RDX.
It and the MDX are produced at Honda of America Manufacturing Inc.’s East Liberty Auto Plant. Honda’s popular CR-V is produced at ELP and the Marysville Auto Plant, which also produces the Honda Accord and Acura ILX and TLX sedans.
Overall, American Honda sold 122,182 vehicles in October, 108,558 carried the Honda name plate while 13,624 were Acura products.
Car sales were down for both brands but Honda electrified vehicles posted more than 6,000 vehicles sold for a new monthly record.
“This followed back-to-back months topping 5,000 (July and August), all adding up to the best four-month period for Honda electrified vehicle sales in our history,” said American Honda Senior Vice President Henio Arcangeli Jr.
