Herbert D. Holley, 90 of Bellefontaine passed away suddenly Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020 at his residence.
Herbert was born Dec. 25, 1929 in Mason County, W.Va., to the late Charles J. and Gertrude (Forth) Holley. On Dec. 25, 1950, in Rushsylvania, he married the love of his life, Lora Alma Stover.
Herbert was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church for many years. He worked for 45 years at National Extrusion and Manufacturing, where he started as a laborer and worked his way up to Extrusion Manager. Herbert was a volunteer squad driver for Box 15 and later worked for Larry Robinaugh in Robinaugh’s Medical Transport.
He lived for his family, especially his kids and grandkids, he would do anything he could for them. He was the most loving, selfless and hardworking man you would ever meet, who would help not only his family, but anyone in need. He was a great role model to his entire family. Herbert was truly a part of the “Greatest Generation.” Herbert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lora Alma Holley; children, Jerry (Patti) Holley, Terry (Merlyn “Dee”) Brugler and Jeffrey Holley; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Aaron Sr., Dr. Jessica, Brandy, Alika, Kelly and Daryn, great grandchildren, Carmella, Meadow, Aaron Jr., Kyler, Colt, Ireland, Lily, Luke, Alistair, Evan, Hannah, Laurel, Simon, Jetta, Avery and Carter; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Arvel Holley, Cleo Holley, Junior Holley, Virginia Bryant and Evelin Sturgeon.
A graveside service will take place at 3 p.m . Saturday, Sept. 5, at Rushsylvania Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Jennnings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory.
