Hazel Ruthella Corwin, 95, of Kenton, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton.
She was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Hardin County, a daughter of the late Carlton S. and Ina M. Eaton Sorgen. She married Earl Collins and they divorced. She then married Raymond E. Corwin on Jan. 4, 1958, and he passed away Jan. 15, 1972.
Survivors include her children Ruthella (Gene) Ford of Matthews, N.C., Clifford (Shirley) Collins of Kenton, William Corwin of LaFollette, Tenn., and Lisa Reed of Summerville, S.C.; nine grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; and several stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-stepgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; brothers, Marion and Howard Sorgen; and sisters, Mary Sorgen, Dorothy Walker, Reva Ober and Nova Nichols.
She was a 1940 graduate of Kenton High School, worked as a telephone operator in Kenton for 13 years and then retired from Essex Wire Co. in Kenton.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Monday, March 6, at the Schindewolf Stout Crates Funeral Home in Kenton, where calling is from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
The Rev. Scott Johnson officiates and burial follows the service in Hale Cemetery, Mt. Victory.
