Harold Alton “Butch” Marvin, 73, of Minster and formerly of DeGraff, passed away at 11:19 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima.
He was born in Sidney on Sept. 12, 1944, to the late Delmar Jesse and Thelma Viola Spillers Marvin.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Charlotte Gallup and infant sister Sharon Marvin; and two brothers, Hugh and Ron Marvin.
Butch is survived by his two children, Tom (Heather) Marvin and Becky (Lance) Moon; five grandchildren, Josh (Katie) Moon, Holly (Justin) Miller, Natasha (Luke) Clouner, Jacob Marvin and Laney Marvin; two great-granddaughters, Leighton Miller and Brinley Clouner; two sisters, Sarah Purtee and Judy Millhouse; three brothers, Delmar Eugene (Jeanie) Marvin, Lloyd (Ike) Marvin, and Jerry (Linda) Marvin; a sister-in-law, Ann Marvin; a brother-in-law, Carl Gallup; and many nieces and nephews.
A member of Logansville Community Church, Butch retired from Nelson Tree Service and KTH Parts. He had also served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 20 years. Butch loved fishing, professional wrestling and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds and the Ohio State University football and basketball teams.
Calling is from 2 to 6 p.m.Thursday, May 17, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street, DeGraff, where the memorial service is at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18. Pastor Dana Kidder and Chad Lump officiate and burial follows in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson with military honors by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
