Members of Benjamin Logan’s Growing Gardens, Growing Minds initiative were hard at work this past weekend, preparing to launch the gardens on campus for a new season of growth.
Students from all three buildings, parents and staff members cleared debris, refilled raised beds with topsoil, and cared for the fragile starts in the greenhouse that are waiting to be transplanted.
As soon as the danger of frost has passed, those starts will be transferred to the raised beds and to the market garden. Direct seeding of plants such as radishes, and carrots and spinach will also take place.
There is still more preparation before the planting, however, and much tending to the garden to take place this summer.
