Gavin T. Stanley, 22, of Bellefontaine passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, as a result of an automobile accident on U.S. Route 68 N., Urbana.
He was born in Bellefontaine, on Dec. 4, 1998, the son of Bill and Jennifer (Ricketts) Stanley, who survive in Bellefontaine.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Mason Stanley of Bellefontaine, grandparents, Ralph (Herb) Jr. and Anita Ricketts of Bellefontaine, Lowell and Sandy Buck of West Liberty, a great grandmother, Marcile Ricketts of Bellefontaine, an aunt, Amanda (Garcel) Legge of Bellefontaine, an uncle, DJ (Anette) Stanley of Springfield, two cousins, Jayden Legge of Bellefontaine and Shelby Douglas of Lima, numerous great aunts, uncles, and second cousin, his bonus family, Ned (Wendy) Michael, Shane (Shoshawna) Michael, Cameron (Nicole) Michael, Haley Craycraft, all of Palm Coast, Fla., his beloved Logan Acres family, residents and staff, his best friend, his Labradoodle, Lady, that was with him and comforted him in his final moments, his childhood friends, Chandler Carnes and Christian Postle and Troop 182, his special friends, The TCC: Tate Howell, Austen Connor, Christian Edu, Alex German, Haydn Smith and Vaughn Hadley.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James W. Stanley, and great grandparents, Don and Virginia Stanley, Ralph Ricketts Sr., and Bob and Dorothy Boysel.
Gavin was a 2017 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and Ohio Hi Point Nursing Program. He was employed by Logan Acres Care Center. His interests included Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, hiking, camping, traveling and computer gaming. He loved playing his guitar and attending concerts. He loved all music but some of his favorites were The Beatles, Chon, Sauce, Burning Spear, Dance Gavin Dance, The Ned and Home is Where.
Rev. Ned Michael will officiate a funeral service at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. until the start of the service.
The family requests that those attending wear tie-dye clothing or casual attire and due to current pandemic orders, please be symptom-free, practice social distancing and consider wearing a mask.
