Friends and family members descended on Iron City Sports Bar in Bellefontaine Wednesday, Sept. 28, in support of a young warrior.
Little Maverick Ramsey, who was born Dec. 20, 2021, to Jason and Amanda Ramsey, was diagnosed with cancer when he was only eight months old. Less than a week later, on Aug. 30, he underwent a nine-hour surgery to remove a mass from the left side of his brain.
Though Maverick handled the trauma like a trooper, the news that the tumor was, in fact, cancerous wasn’t what anyone wanted to hear.
The next step of Maverick’s journey includes six months of chemotherapy starting Oct. 3. During that time, he and his family will need to spend three weeks a month at the hospital for treatment, with only one week a month at home. With all the Ramseys are facing, the community was eager to help.
“We’re overwhelmed by the amount of support and prayers we’ve gotten,” Amanda said. “Please continue to pray for Mav through the rest of his treatment.”
Another fundraiser on Maverick’s behalf will be hosted Sunday, Oct. 30, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Logan County Friendly Senior Center, 934 S. Main St. The event will include food, a bake sale, raffles and a silent auction. You can also donate to the family through a GoFundMe on their CaringBridge site at caringbridge.org/visit/maverickramsey.
