Area youths put their marks on farmers’ market mural
Visiting artist Sam Bartlett of Indiana, left, paints alongside LoCo Art workshop participants Wednesday on the “Farm to Table” mural he designed celebrating the Logan County Farmers’ Market. The 8-foot-tall by 24-foot-long piece will be installed next month at the Watkins Electric new building, 207 W. Columbus Ave., that will face the market that is staged from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays. (EXAMINER PHOTOS | MANDY LOEHR)
Eight-year-old Sean Morgan of Bellefontaine paused for a moment while applying green paint to the outline of a tractor Wednesday on a large-scale public mural being created this week in a LoCo Art workshop.
“It is really neat that a lot of different people will get to see this,” he said, reflecting on the piece that is being commissioned for the Logan County Farmers’ Market. “When I’m older, I can drive by it and remember all the different things I got to do on the mural.”
LoCo Art Director Chris Westhoff said area youths enrolled in the free workshop are putting their touches on the 8-foot-tall by 20-foot-long mural that was designed by Indiana artist Sam Bartlett, who is providing guidance for the project this week and has led several other LoCo Art workshops in recent years.
The piece entitled “Farm to Table” features a cast of characters seated around a large table at the center of the mural, partaking of a meal of fresh produce and baked goods.
