A Logan County man convicted of a rape involving a victim was under the age of 10 was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison during a Tuesday hearing before Logan Common Pleas Judge Kevin P. Braig.
Dion J. Frazier, 47, was found guilty of rape, a first-degree felony, during a December trial in Judge Braig’s court.
State law provided two sentencing options to Judge Braig: life without parole or a sentence of 15 years to life. He chose the second option.
Frazier was acquitted of second rape count and a third-degree felony county of gross sexual imposition. The victim testified that the incident outlined in the other rape count did not happen and the jury did not find there was enough evidence to support the sexual imposition allegation.
The crime occurred late spring of 2020 and was reported to detectives of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office after an investigation by the Logan County Children’s Services.
Neither the victim nor the victim’s mother spoke at the sentencing.
It was noted during the sentencing hearing Frazier faced trial in 1993 for gross sexual imposition, but was acquitted.
