Former Benjamin Logan standout Stevie Plikerd recently earned All-American honors as a member of the Wittenberg University women’s indoor track and field team.
A sophomore, Plikerd earned All-American status in the long jump after qualifying to the Division III national championships.
Normally, the top eight placers in each event at the national competition earn All-American honors.
However, the national meet was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. The NCAA Division III executive committee adopted a specific criteria for athletes to earn the award.
Plikerd met part of that criteria by qualifying to the national tournament in the long jump. She was one of three women on Wittenberg’s indoor team to receive the award. She had a season-best jump of 5.59 meters at the inaugural Tiger Open on Dec. 6.
