A left-handed pitcher for the Cotuit Kettleers of Cotuit, Mass., Collins has been named to Saturday’s Cape Cod All-Star Game.
Following two strong seasons at Wright State University, Collins was inked to a temporary contract with Cotuit with the intent of pitching in the bullpen.
However, he seized his opportunity and has emerged as one of the top starting pitchers in a league loaded with big-time college talent.
Collins has made eight appearances with the Kettleers, including four starts. He is 4-1 with a sparkling 2.21 ERA. He has recorded 20 strikeouts and just six walks in 24 innings of work.
The former Ben Logan star is currently tied for the Cape Cod League lead in wins and is sixth in ERA.
