Community Concert Band celebrates 25 years with Sunday concert

With their musical instruments in tow, men and women both young and old, arriving after work, sports practices or other summertime activities, made their way Tuesday evening to the Bellefontaine High School band room, greeting each other as they entered.
Once the West Central Ohio Community Concert Band musicians settled into their seats, the room soon was filled with the full-bodied sounds of show tunes and patriotic anthems as the 55-member band’s brass, woodwind and percussion sections began their practice session.
While the individuals assembled there come from many walks of life, they are drawn together for practices and group performances because of one major commonality, which keeps them coming back to the group year after year.
“We just love music,” one of the founding members Cheryll Bickham of Bellefontaine explained Tuesday evening while taking her spot behind the timpani.
