Damian S. Deyo, 28, of 812 Heritage Court, Apt. 13, was arrested Tuesday for felonious assault, disrupting public services and domestic violence.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called to his residence at 6 p.m. and met with the suspect and Lily Yoakam, of the same address.
The defendant allegedly hit Yoakam in the face multiple times over two attacks, broke her phone and choked her. She was able to fight off Deyo and escape from the apartment to call police from a neighbor’s residence.
Officers documented the injuries to Yoakam including scratches on her face, a busted lip, bruising around her right eye and choking injuries to her neck.
Deyo was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Officers noted deplorable conditions in the residence and severe diaper rash on a 1-year-old child. Personnel with the Bellefontaine Fire and EMS Department were on scene to evaluate Yoakam and the child.
A report has been forwarded to the Logan County Children’s Services.
2 injured in crash
Two people were injured in a three-vehicle collision just before noon Saturday in the 100 block of south Main Street.
Morgan L. Grover, 32, of Woodstock, and her passenger, a six-year-old boy, were transported by a Bellefontaine squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment.
Officers report Grover was southbound in a sport utility vehicle when Dalton L. Green, 25, of Bellefontaine, backed a car into her path. The car was knocked forward into a parked SUV registered to Debra A. Earick, of Bellefontaine.
Damage was heavy to the Grover SUV, moderate to the Green car and light to the Earick vehicle.
Green was issued a citation for improper backing.
Driver cited for OVI
Jesse James Welborn, 30, of Springfield, was charged Friday, Aug. 12, with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He was issued a traffic citation for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
He was stopped shortly before midnight after an officer observed a pickup truck travel northbound from Columbus Avenue on Detroit Street which is one-way southbound in that section.
A stop was initiated and the officer made contact with Welborn. His speech was thick and slurred, the officer reports, and he had bloodshot, glassy eyes. The officer also detected an odor of alcohol.
Field sobriety tests indicated he was under the influence of alcohol and he provided a breathalyzer sample of 0.179.
He was released to a sober driver.
Driver admits to texting
Brandy N. Sallee, 34, of St. Paris, was issued a traffic citation for driving while texting on Thursday, Aug. 11. She also was cited for failure to drive in the marked lanes of the road.
A motorist alerted authorities she believed Sallee was intoxicated and was following the car into Bellefontaine. An officer spotted the car around 12:10 and began following it north on Main Street. The officer observed the car cross the center line in the area of Williams Avenue and near Grove Avenue.
A traffic stop was initiated after she turned onto Dowell Avenue.
She admitted to texting with her daughter as she drove.
