MARYSVILLE — A project to create a loop of high speed internet fiber optic cable along U.S. Route 33 has received almost $6 million in federal funds.
The fiber loop will connect with Dublin’s Dublink at U.S. 33 and State Route 161 and reach westward to the Transportation Research Center Inc. outside East Liberty.
U.S. Department of Transportation funds of $5,997,500 will pay for dedicated short range communications tower along the corridor.
Marysville and Union County officials were moving ahead with the project when the Ohio Department of Transportation announced it would help.
Federal transportation funds eases the burden on ODOT’s budget.
