Johnny R. Bailey Jr., 24, of 227 Park Ave., Russells Point, was charged with assault and domestic violence Monday morning related to a domestic incident in a moving vehicle that was traveling on U.S. Route 33.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and an officer of the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched about 10:15 a.m. to the area of U.S. 33 and Township Road 94 in reference to a jeep pulled over in the ditch and two males who were fighting.
Bailey Jr. and his father, Johnny R. Bailey Sr., 49, of the same address, were separated.
Bailey Sr. had visible injuries, with deputies noting that his lip was bleeding and his left eye was red and beginning to swell. The father said while he was driving, he and his son had been in a verbal argument, and then his son reportedly took off his shirt and demanded they fight.
The father told deputies that Bailey Jr. attempted to choke him with his seat belt, so he pulled his vehicle over. Before he could exit the vehicle, he said his son struck him twice in the face.
Bailey Jr. admitted to striking his father twice, deputies said. He said he had consumed several beers prior to the altercation.
Deputies also detected a slight odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Bailey Sr., and he passed field sobriety tests.
Bailey Jr. was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
