Indian Lake’s girls basketball team fell behind early against visiting Urbana on Wednesday and couldn’t recover as the Hillclimbers cruised to a 51-33 Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division win.
The Lakers saw the end of a five-game win streak as they are now 9-5 overall and 6-3 in the CBC Mad River standings. The Hillclimbers even their season mark to 8-8 and they stand atop the Mad River division at 6-1.
Urbana dominated the first half. The Hillclimbers were in front 13-6 after the first quarter and had a 16-9 run in the second quarter to lead 29-15 at halftime
The Lakers found themselves trailed 44-26 after three quarters and they were unable to make a run in the final stanza.
Stephanie Altstaetter carried the Lakers with 15 points, Kyleigh Huffer had eight points, while Kayli Tussing and Allison Kinney each had five points.
In junior varsity action, Indian Lake defeated Urbana 32-25. Meadow McCullough and Katie Roby lead the Lakers with nine points each and Ava Shroyer had eight points.
Indian Lake travels to Wapakoneta on Saturday for a non-league makeup game.
