City’s newest mural unveiled
A mural depicting a community — along with a random goat — enjoying a bountiful harvest meal is the newest piece of streetscape art to adorn a downtown building.
The piece, created by artist Sam Bartlett along with youths from the local LoCo Art Spot, was hung late last week and unveiled Saturday in conjunction with the Logan County Farmers’ Market, which helped make it possible.
The market utilized a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant intended to promote local farmers’ markets, according to Chris Westhoff of LoCo Art and Karla Kauffman, who is transitioning into the market manager role.
LoCo Arts’ summer programming, which carried a “healthy choices” theme, was also supported by the Mary Rutan Foundation, Westhoff added.
“This is a lasting advertisement for the farmers’ market and it was a fun way to get kids thinking about healthy food choices,” he said.
“Sam Bartlett is an amazing artist and has a lot of fun and crazy ideas like putting a goat head coming up through the middle of the table. The kids really enjoy him. He’s been here before and we were glad to have him back.”
