Ernest W. Bailey, 80, of Bellefontaine, passed away Monday, Sept.10, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Ernest was born May 12, 1938, in Nicholas County, Ky., to the late Ambrose Forest “Doc” and Ida May Ockerman Bailey.
Ernest proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for more than three years. After his service he enjoyed building and racing cars, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ernest is survived by his children, David A. Bailey and Sue (James) Jackson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Albert (Freeda) Bailey, David (Deloris) Bailey, Carl (Sherill) Bailey and Maggie (Billy) Jenkins; and many nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by siblings, Homer “Pete” Bailey, Clyde Douglas Bailey, Marsh “Cotton” Bailey, Richard “Tommy” Bailey, Bruce Bailey, Vivian “Sudie” Morrell and Mildred “Midge” Hedger.
A celebration of life takes place at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory, following visitation that begins at 1 p.m. Military honors will take place following the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Logan County Cancer Society in honor of Ernest.
