SPRINGFIELD — The 23rd annual Empty Bowls event for Clark County is slated for 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Wittenberg University, with proceeds benefiting the Second Harvest Food Bank of Clark, Champaign and Logan Counties.
In addition, the Empty Bowls event for Logan County is slated for 5 to 7 p.m. May 4 at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center. Second Harvest Food Bank is currently seeking steering committee members as well for the event.
For the Clark County event, participants will receive hand-crafted bowls made by Wittenberg University art students, and a simple meal of soup and bread for a $15 donation. The purchase of each bowl provides 75 meals for hungry families, organizers said.
As the only food bank in Clark, Champaign, and Logan Counties, Second Harvest Food Bank distributes over six million pounds of food annually. For information, contact Rose Bradley at (937) 325-8715 ext. 133 or [email protected].
