Elizabeth “Ann” Hatcher, 92 of Tipp City, OH and formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2022, at Randall Residence of Tipp City.
Ann was born August 24, 1929, in LaRue, OH, a daughter of the late Harry and Margery (Sager) Snyder. Ann married Roger P. Hatcher on March 8, 1952, and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her five siblings, Cecelia Leppo, Cletus Snyder, Teresa Fields, John Snyder, and Daniel Snyder.
Ann is survived by her five children, Beverly Wallace of Tipp City, OH, Rick (Jill) Hatcher of Bellefontaine, OH, Sheila (Dan) Brown of Morganton, NC, Annette (Mike) Sidders of Bellefontaine, OH, and Jill (Bill) McKelvey of West Liberty, OH. Ann has 12 grandchildren who survive as well, Mark (Melissa) Wallace, Jim Trabert, Sara (Joe) Clair, Kristi (Kevin) Daugherty, Joe (Becca) Sidders, Brett (Sarah) Hatcher, Danielle (Logan) Maldonado, Alisa (Danny) Rising, Erin Williams, Jon (Ashley) Sidders, Allison Smith, and Mathew (Samantha) McKelvey, along with 28 great grandchildren. Ann’s sister-in-law Lila Snyder of California also survives along with many nieces and nephews.
Ann was a 1947 graduate of LaRue High School. She attended the Marion Business College. Throughout her life Ann worked as an administrative assistant for the J.A. Maish, Springfield Airport, Bellefontaine Schools, and Montgomery Wards. She worked 20 years in two factories Merchant Industry and Westinghouse. But Ann is best known as the Walmart People Greeter in Bellefontaine for over 25 years. She loved talking with the customers, and wherever she went people knew her smiling face. After moving to Randall Residence last year, she became the welcome wagon for new residents and encouraged them to become involved in all the activities.
She was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine, OH, and when she moved to Tipp City, she continued her strong faith at St. John the Baptist in Tipp City, OH.
Ann never met a stranger and would frequently stop and chat with people she met while traveling in the USA and around Europe. Ann loved to go places, take a ride, go shopping, and eat out. Ann loved playing cards, spending time watching her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great grandchildren’s activities, and especially talking to people. She loved to meet new people and could always be heard talking about her family and sharing stories.
Ann had the kindest heart and was always willing to help when people needed it. Many called her “Mom” and “Grandma” because of this. She will be missed greatly, but we are sure she is now a people greeter in Heaven.

Reverend Shawn Landenwitch will begin a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, with viewing one hour prior at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bellefontaine. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery at the Gazebo north of West Liberty.
