Eileen E. “Ellie” Halter, 72, of Belle Center, OH, formerly of Anna, OH, died Thurs. morning, Oct. 6, 2022, at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine, OH, with her husband and daughters at her side.
She was born Oct. 30, 1949, in Lima, OH, the daughter of the late Leonard & Pauline (Wehri) Schnipke. On April 30, 1971, she married William C. “Bill” Halter, and he survives.
Other survivors include, 2 daughters, Stacie (Jeff) Neilan, Plain City, OH, Krista (Matt) Pettus, Anna, OH; grandchildren, Brandon Neilan, Ryley Neilan, Brooke Pettus, Makenna Pettus, Griffin Pettus; siblings, Don (Karen) Schnipke, Ron (Jane) Schnipke, Leonard, Jr. (Lynda) Schnipke, Alvera (Dan) Miller, Lenora (Paul) Ball, Dolores Johnson; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Ron (Nancy) Halter, Joe (Barb) Halter, Jim (Deb) Halter, Kevin (Mary Jo) Halter, Joyce (Don-dec) Mort; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Schnipke, and a nephew, Rodney Menke.
Ellie served as president and CEO of the family owned business, Schnipke Engraving, headquartered in Ottoville, OH. She was a 1967 graduate of Ottoville High School, and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, McCartyville, OH, and St. Marys of the Woods Catholic Church, Russells Point, OH. Ellie served on the James Foundation Board, Columbus, OH, for over 15 years. During that time, she was deeply committed to the board, serving as treasurer for many years and on the Executive Committee. She loved spending time with her family, and watching her grandchildren play sports. Ellie loved rooting for The Ohio State University Buckeyes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thurs. Oct. 13, 2022, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, McCartyville, with Rev. Shawn Landenwitch officiating. Burial is follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 2-8 p.m., Wed. Oct. 12, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, and from 9-10 a.m., Thurs. at the Church.
