E. Marcella Stevens, 92, of Bellefontaine, passed away Wednesday evening at 5:24 p.m. Jan. 6, 2021, at Belle Springs Nursing and Rehab.
Marcella was born in Logan County on July 16, 1928, to the late Richard D. and Clara Jane (Predmore) Highland. She married Stanley Dwight Stevens on Nov. 30, 1945, in Newport, Ky., and he preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2006. Marcella was also preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Johnson, sister Connie Mae Highland, and a grandson Ben Stevens.
Marcella is survived by her son Gary A. (Beth) Stevens of Bellefontaine; son-in-law Randy Johnson of Overland Park, Kansas; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Marcella enjoyed her job as school secretary at Bellefontaine Schools for 25 years. Many students recognized Mrs. Stevens long after she retired. Teachers and staff remained lifelong friends. Marcella loved all her pets and considered them friends. She made beautiful quilts, which will always be shared and enjoyed by family and friends. She was a member of Bellefontaine First United Methodist Church, and most recently was attending Rushsylvania United Methodist Church.
Pastor Jessica Cavinee will officiate a graveside service for Marcella on Saturday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. at Rushsylvania Cemetery. Due to current pandemic orders, please be symptom free, practice social distancing, and consider wearing a mask.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church of the donor’s choice.
