Jose L. Argueta-Mejia, 42, of 121 N. Park St., Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was cited for failure to control following an incident Saturday at Mad River Mountain during a Savage Race event hosted by the ski resort.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 2:10 p.m. to the ski resort, 1000 Snow Valley Road, Zanesfield, on a report of a possible drunk driver whose vehicle had driven through checkpoints and traffic barricades during the event. Witnesses reported that the driver also nearly struck portable toilets and pedestrians.
Mr. Argueta-Mejia’s vehicle reportedly had become stuck in a ditch, and witnesses took the keys from the driver for his safety.
When deputies arrived, they noted that the defendant displayed signs of intoxication. He was unable to complete field sobriety tests, and was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he refused to take a blood alcohol content test.
• George W. Thompson, 37, of 1818 County Road 103, Belle Center, was charged with OVI and received two stop sign violations following an incident in Belle Center Sunday evening.
Deputies on patrol in the area observed his vehicle run stop signs at Main and Center streets and at Main and State streets in the village about 11:50 p.m. His vehicle then was stopped in the area on State and Torrence streets.
Mr. Thompson displayed signs of intoxication, and he was unable to complete field sobriety tests. At the jail, he refused to take a blood alcohol content test. He was released to a sober person.
Deputies note that the defendant has three prior OVI convictions.
Man charged with resisting arrest

Eric Roy, 49, of 305 Bass Lane, Lakeview, was charged with resisting arrest and obstructing official business related to an incident Saturday evening when deputies served him with a Mercer County warrant.
About 8:35 p.m., deputies observed Mr. Roy riding his bicycle in the area of Old Field Beach and attempted to speak with him regarding the failure to appear warrant. However, Mr. Roy yelled back at deputies and would not stop to talk with them.
A short time later, the defendant was apprehended in a nearby parking lot area along State Route 235. He was taken to jail.
Woman lodged after campground incident
Danyele Clay, 24, of Marysville, was charged with persistent disorderly conduct following an incident early Sunday morning at the A&E Campground, 3299 State Route 540, Bellefontaine.
Deputies responded to the campground about 1:25 a.m. on a report of a property dispute. Ms. Clay said her boyfriend had her keys and would not give them to her.
However, deputies observed that Ms. Clay was heavily intoxicated. She reportedly become uncooperative with deputies’ requests to quiet down. She was transported to the jail.
