Drunk driver charged with failure to comply with order of officer
STACHLER |
Christopher Stachler, 42, of Lakeview, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and failure to comply with the order of a police officer during an incident Wednesday afternoon.
Officers spotted a northbound vehicle on State Route 235 near County Road 54 about 4:40 p.m. that crossed the center yellow line and almost caused a head-on accident with the patrol car.
As the Washington Township Officers turned on the vehicle lights and with siren activated, the driver appeared to ignore the patrol car and continued toward Indian Lake High School.
Officers noticed the male driver was looking through his side mirror and was traveling in the opposite lane of travel as officers tried to get the vehicle stopped. As the vehicle approached the intersection at State Route 235 and State Route 274, officers observed the traffic light turn red and Stachler could not continue because a semi tractor-trailer was going through the intersection.
Officers were able to approach the vehicle and take the male into custody. Stachler was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he refused to submit to a breath test.
When asked why he didn’t stop when the patrol car was behind him with lights and siren activated, Stachler stated he was trying to get the vehicle home to his mom.
