Chareasa M. Jeffries, 20, of Anna, was transported by Robinaugh EMS to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney for treatment of minor injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report she was operating an eastbound 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt on State Route 47 about 2:45 p.m. and stopped at the stop sign at State Route 235. She then proceeded into the intersection and her vehicle struck a northbound 2008 Ford F-250 operated by Charles C. Howell, 34, of DeGraff.
Her vehicle spun facing north and came to a rest in the intersection and the Howell vehicle continued off the northeast side of the intersection and came to a rest.
Howell did not report any injuries. Damage was heavy to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Jeffries was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign.
• No injuries were reported in a pickup and Amish horse and buggy crash Saturday morning on County Road 91 near Lewistown.
Deputies report Donald C. Dugan, 40, of Lakeview, was operating an eastbound 2010 GMC Sierra about 8 a.m. when he struck the rear of the horse and buggy operated by Enos Eicher, 21, of DeGraff.
Dugan was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead. He was wearing his seat belt. Damage was heavy to the buggy and moderate to the pickup.
Suspected meth seized during traffic stop
Clayton R. Estes, 43, of West Alexandria, was charged with a felony count of possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop Saturday evening in DeGraff.
Deputies report he was a passenger in a pickup hauling a trailer that was stopped about 7:20 p.m. in the area of north Main Street at Moore Street relating to no functional brake lights or turn signals.
Deputies said the vehicle was occupied by the driver and three other male occupants, who were not wearing seat belts. When the driver was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, he told deputies “not to my knowledge.”
K9 Thor indicated on the vehicle, and deputies seized a plastic pouch containing suspected methamphetamine and two glass pipes in the area where Estes had been sitting. The defendant denied that the items belonged to him.
Deputies also located suspected marijuana and an open container of beer under the front bench seat. Fellow passenger John T. Fuerst, 53, of Russells Point, was issued a possession of marijuana and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Officers of the West Liberty Police Department also assisted at the scene.
Estes was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
