Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report a Belle Center man has succumbed to injuries sustained in a Sept. 26 crash on County Road 39.
Wayne A. Cavin, 69, was pronounced dead at 7:16 p.m. Friday at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
He had been flown by MedFlight helicopter to the Columbus hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained the 6:15 p.m. crash.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office previously reported he was operating a northbound sport utility vehicle near Township Road 100 when he traveled off the right side of the road and overcorrected, coming back onto the road and started to spin out.
He then went off the right side of the road again and went down an embankment, striking a tree and overturning, with the SUV coming to rest on the passenger side.
Deputies report Cavin was not wearing a seat belt, and he had previously been listed in critical condition at the hospital.
Damage was heavy to the vehicle, which was towed from the scene.
It is the sixth fatal crash in Logan County this year.
