Jennifer L. Henry, 52, of 11512 Parker Drive, Belle Center, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after a two-vehicle crash at Main Street and Columbus Avenue around 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
Her northbound car hit the rear of a van operated by Dennis L. Johnson, 63, of Bellefontaine, causing heavy damage to the car and moderate damage to the van.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report they detected an odor of alcohol when they talked with Ms. Henry. She appeared disoriented and her eyes were glassy, they report.
She refused to take any sobriety tests and was arrested.
She also was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
City resident reports grandparent scam
Gordon Shellaberger of Bellefontaine reported he received a scam call on Wednesday in which the caller claimed to be his grandson in need of bail money.
He checked with family members and soon determined it was not true. He did not fall victim to the scam.
