Seven competitors representing the Discovery Riders participated in the 2017 Special Olympic Ohio Equestrian Competition Aug. 19 and 20 at Hamilton County Winton Woods Riding Center in Cincinnati.

The participants from Logan and Union counties included Becky Johnson, Emily Woolard, Lorraine Trudeau, Mathew Wildermuth, Mitch Gates, Riley Muller and T.J. Grose. They competed against other rides from around the state in dressage, showmanship, barrel racing-English and Western, English equitation, Western equitation and working trail classes throughout the two-day competition.
Discovery Riders instructors Becky Porter, Lynn Plummer and Tammy Saylor and volunteers Lisa Grzeskewiak, Marge Hill, Monica Young and Sara Stahler assisted the riders, along with many of the riders’ family and friends.
The United Way of Logan County and United Way of Union County provided financial support to the riders for this event.
