Quincy Village Council members discussed at their recent meeting the difficulties the DeGraff and Quincy Joint Sewer Plant is experiencing in filling the class II operator vacancy at the plant.
At this time, an operator of record is employed in the Village of DeGraff and the Joint Sewer Plant.
The Joint Sewer Plant is a Class II system that needs a Class II operator, and the minimum requirement by the Ohio EPA is to have a 20 hour-per-week operator on site. Trying to find a Class II operator for just 20 hours per week without extra benefits has been challenging, officials related.
The Joint Sewer Board meeting scheduled for Aug. 7 was canceled because of a lack of quorum and will need to be conducted a later date.
Mayor Dan Robinson then reported that he had signed the necessary paperwork for Quincy to receive a new weather siren through a grant the village applied for through the Logan County Emergency Management Agency.
