Dennis Raymond Allison, 72, of Springfield, passed away at 7:22 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at Springfield Regional Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born Oct. 31, 1944, in Bellefontaine.
On June 20, 1965, he married the former Ann M. Adkins in Logansville, and she survives, along with their children, Jason (Kim) Allison and Hope (Dwight) Whipp; four grandchildren, Samuel Allison, Hannah Whipp, Kacey Widmeyer and Leighanne Marcum; and a great-grandson, Lincoln Widmeyer.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Robert Hobson and Esther May Allison Black; an infant daughter, Dawn Marie; infant siblings, Lynn and Donald; and maternal grandparents, Charles and Mable Allison.
A retail purchaser for 40 years, Dennis was a past master of Anthony Lodge 455 F&AM and president of the Springfield Shrine Club. Dennis attended the First Christian Church in Springfield. He enjoyed boating, fishing and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. Dennis also spent time donating blood to the community blood bank and collecting donations for Shriner’s Burn Hospitals.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St., DeGraff, where visitation is an hour prior to the service, which begins with a Masonic service by Anthony Lodge 455 F&AM of Springfield, immediately followed by Pastor Brian Borton officiating a memorial service. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
