Ridgemont Board of Education members were updated at their Thursday evening meeting on demolition progress at the former elementary school in Mt. Victory and former junior high and high school facility in Ridgeway.
Superintendent Emmy Beeson said the elementary school demolition is complete with grass, drains, and sidewalks installed in the area.
The demolition of part of the high school and “button up” is nearly complete, she said. A portion of the former Ridgeway building, including the gymnasium, cafeteria and agriculture class workshop, will remain intact for extracurricular activities, and the district is waiting on final inspection of the new wall at this facility.
The final design contract for $9,500 with SHP Leading Design was approved for the wall stabilization at the Ridgeway building after demolition.
For the current pre-K through 12 building, the board approved the installation of a $16,600 water softening system because of increased water hardness. This purchase is co-funded with the Ohio School Facilities Commission through the building project.
