Delmar D. Cox, 91, of West Liberty, went to be with the Lord Sunday evening, May 10, 2020, at Hospice of Central Ohio, Columbus.
Delmar was born in Bellefontaine on Oct. 25, 1928, to the late William G. and Laura (Foughty) Cox. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, four sisters, sons Michael Cox and Delmar “Dean” Cox, Jr., a son-in-law Joe Shoemaker, and three grandsons: John Adams, Matthew Cox Jr. and Steven Cox.
Delmar married the former Tempa L. Holycross on Aug. 6, 1949, in Greenup, Ky., and she survives in West Liberty. He is also survived by their children: Larry (Judi) Cox of Alabama, Susan (Vern) Yelton of Huntsville, Juanita Shoemaker of Rushsylvania, Judy (Bob) Culp of Rushsylvania, Deb (Greg) Vickers of Bellefontaine, Jerry A. Cox of Bellefontaine, and Terry B. Cox of Bellefontaine; 113 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; three sisters: Mary E. Weber of Bellefontaine, Phyllis A. Burkhammer of Russells Point, and Betty J. Cox of Celina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Delmar worked for OM Scotts Fertilizer for many years before retiring. He then went to work at Acrux Security and retired again at the age of 80. Delmar enjoyed his family and loved to get everybody laughing. He was a member of Goshen Friends Church, Zanesfield.
Due to the current pandemic restrictions, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of Delmar’s life will be conducted at a later date.
