DAVIS |
Former Indian Lake standout Connor Davis, a member of the Mt. Vernon Nazarene soccer team, has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America academic all-district team for the second consecutive year.
CoSIDA began the academic All-America program in 1952, and since then has honored thousands of deserving studentathletes from numerous sports across all divisions.
The award is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the field or court of play. To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have a cumulative gradepoint average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have reached sophomore status academically with one full year at the current institution of enrollment and must have participated in over half of the team’s competitions during the current season.
Davis maintains a 3.9 GPA in biology at MVNU. He started all 18 contests for the Cougars, playing mostly from the midfield.
He finished second on the team in total points with 11, contributing five goals and an assist for the season. He had a pair of game-winning goals as well, including a 2-1 overtime win over Bethel College in which he scored both goals.
Davis is planning on attending medical school in the fall of 2020 to become an orthopedic surgeon.
With the all-district distinction, he now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, where first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in December.
