Curtis “Curt” Salyer Jr., 79, of Lakeview, passed away at 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the Dayton VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on October 2, 1942, in Paintsville, Kentucky, a son of the late Curtis and Delma May (Williams) Salyer Sr.
Curtis married Sheila Jean (Amos) Salyer on August 6, 1965, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on August 9, 2012. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Salyer.
Curtis is survived by four sisters, Harriet (Norman) Thomas, Brenda (Melvin) Lattimer, Joyce (Phil) Horne, and Wilma (Jim) Vertrees; two brothers, Bob (Elaine) Salyer and Jack Salyer; a sister-in-law, Sharon Salyer; and several nieces and nephews.
A U.S. Army veteran, Curtis worked in road construction most of his life. He was a member of the American Legion and Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post #39 in Lakeview.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street in DeGraff, where Pastor Bobbi Allen will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio.
