Benjamin Logan seventh-grader Winnie Bodin, left, answers questions regarding her Creative Costumes entry in the 4-H sewing competition from judge Cheryl Snyder of New Carlisle Monday morning at the Logan County Fair show arena. Winnie said the costume made of different colored cotton fabric took her about two months to sew, and she wore the piece in the Mary Poppins Jr. production at the Holland Theatre in February, when she played the shopkeeper, Mrs. Corry. A number of other youths presented their 4-H and FFA projects for one-on-one judging interviews with face masks required throughout the morning and afternoon Monday, including entries in food and nutrition, photography, art and pet projects. The sewing projects will take the runway this evening during the Fashion Revue at 7 p.m. at the activity building, and other FFA and 4-H project winners will be announced at 11 a.m. Friday at the activity building.
4-H booths, FFA projects on display
FFA projects on display at the Logan County Fair show arena include wooden chairs created by Ian Wischmeyer and Alix Cotterman and an end table created by Shelbie Snoke. Some of the 4-H booths this year also have been moved inside the show arena, including these two booths by the Miami Valley Producers 4-H and the Willing Workers 4-H, to provide ample space for viewing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
