CINCINNATI (AP) — Delia Owens’ “Where the Crawdads Sing,” the best-selling novel about a young girl’s life in a North Carolina coastal marsh, has proved to be popular with book borrowers, too.
The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County reported Tuesday that the 2018 book led both in Adult Fiction and in all 2019 book checkouts with 4,985 through Monday.
Former first lady Michelle Obama’s memoir, “Becoming,” led Adult Nonfiction with 2,854 checkouts through Monday. Two older nonfiction books set in southern Ohio continued to do well: J.D. Vance’s “Hillbilly Elegy” (Middletown) and Sam Quinones’ “Dreamland” (Portsmouth) ranked third and fifth, respectively, in checkouts in that category.
“Pokemon Adventures” led Juvenile Books with 2,899 checkouts and Jenny Han’s “To All the Boys I Loved Before” topped Teen Books with 838 checkouts.
The totals don’t include audio book versions.
