Bellefontaine could soon hire its own electrician/maintenance technician to take over work currently handled by contractors.

While the responsibilities of the new position are still under development, Mr. Holycross and the City Council’s Finance Committee envision the new employee would start out focusing on electrical needs for the city’s water, sewer and storm water departments, but could branch out to other maintenance responsibilities after obtaining the proper certifications such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
Larger projects might still require an outside contractor, Mr. Holycross said, but a slew of as-needed calls will be handled in-house.
